A PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

To confirm the appointment of Mr. George Willie to the Board of Trustees of the
University of the District of Columbia.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited
as the "Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia George Willie
Confirmation Resolution of 1999".

Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

as a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia,
established by section 201 of the District of Columbia Public Postsecondary Education
Reorganization Act, approved October 1, 1974 (88 Stat. 1424; D.C. Code §31-1511),
replacing Rosemary Cribben, whose term ended May 15, 1999, for a term to end May 15, 2004.

Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this
resolution, upon its adoption, each to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.

Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.


George S. Willie – Chairman, Division of Firms – National Association of Black
Accountants

George is the managing partner of Bert Smith &: Co., one of the
largest minority owned management and consulting firms in the country. Bert Smith &
Co. is also ranked by the Washington Business Journal as one of the largest
certified public accounting firms in the Metropolitan D.C. Area. In 1997 George, who was
selected by Accounting Today as one of the 100 most influential people in the
accounting profession, and Accounting Today has also selected him into the 1998
Accounting’s Hall of Fame;
he has over 27 years of public accounting experience —
healthcare and state and local government sectors as his principal areas of practice.

Willie is campaigning to improve the profession’s performance in
attracting young talent, to broaden its diversity, and to help keep minority public
accounting firms independent.
