A PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

To confirm the reappointment of Ms. Jennifer M. Long to the Rental Housing Commission.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited
as the "Rental Housing Commission Jennifer M. Long Confirmation Resolution of
2001".

Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the reappointment of:

Ms. Jennifer M. Long

as a member of the Rental Housing Commission, established by section 201 of the Rental
Housing Act of 1985, effective July 17, 1985 (D.C. Law 6-10; D.C. Code §45-2511), for a
term to end July 18, 2003.

Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this
resolution, upon its adoption, each to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.

Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

Administrative Law Judge, District of Columbia Rental Housing Commission, July
1997 – Present

Administer Rental Housing Act, conduct appellate hearings, issue decisions and orders,
perform legal research, draft regulations, supervise law clerks and staff, respond to
public and agency inquiries, prepare reports, calculate and issue consumer price index for
metropolitan area, and periodically serve as administrative head of Commission. Possess
in-depth knowledge of housing laws and regulations, administrative law and procedure, and
case law.

General Practitioner, Law Offices of Jennifer M. Long, Philadelphia and Atlanta,
March 1993 – July 1997

Established successful practice with concentration in criminal and civil litigation.
Counseled clients, drafted pleadings and appellate briefs, litigated felony, misdemeanor,
juvenile and appellate cases. Managed legal offices, trained and advised attorneys,
supervised support staff, developed and maintained client relationships.

Arbitrator, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, October 1991 – January 1995

Presided at civil hearings involving commercial, residential and personal property,
personal injury, and contract disputes. Ruled on evidentiary issues, assessed damages, and
rendered judgments.
