A PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
To confirm the appointment of Mr. Charlie E. Mahone, Jr. to the District of Columbia
Local Business Opportunity Commission.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited
as the "District of Columbia Local Business Opportunity Commission Charlie E. Mahone,
Jr. Confirmation Resolution of 2001".
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

as a member of the District of Columbia Local Business Opportunity Commission,
established by section 4 of the Minority Contracting Act of 1976, effective March 29, 1977
(D.C. Law 1-95; D.C. Code § 1-1143), replacing Shelly Hayes, whose term ended March 28,
1996, for a term to end March 28, 2002.
Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this
resolution, upon its adoption, each to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.
Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

Supervised a study that produced a document which: (1) assessed the
efforts by the state of Georgia to encourage foreign investment into the state and
increase exports by Georgia-based business; (2) assessed the efforts of other states in
both of these areas; and (3) offered specific recommendations, many of which were adopted,
to the Governor regarding how Georgia could improve its efforts.
Was Project Director for research grant from the U.S. Department of
Commerce Economic Development Agency that: (1) assessed the international services offered
by various types of organizations located in the state; (2) surveyed manufacturing and
agricultural concerns located in Georgia to assess their information and service needs;
(3) initiated the development of a computerized data bank that will be used to match needs
with services.
