Councilmember Graham
introduced the following bill, which was referred to the Committee of the
Whole.
To order the closing of
the 1900 block of Lamont Street N.W. and transfer
to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE
COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this act may be cited as the
"Closing of a Street in Square 2604 Act of 2001 ".
Sec. 2. Pursuant to
section 201 of the Street and Alley Closing Acquisition Procedures Act of
1982, effective March 10, 1983 (D.C. Law 4-201; D.C. Code §7-421)
("Act"), the Council of the District of Columbia finds that the
1900 block of Lamont Street N.W., as shown on the Surveyor’s plat, is
unnecessary for street purposes and orders it closed, with jurisdiction
over the land to transfer from the Department of Public Works to the
Department of Parks and Recreation.
Sec. 3. This act shall
take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by
the Mayor. action by the Council to override the veto). approval by the
Financial Responsibility and Management Assistance Authority as provided
in section 203(a) of the District of Columbia Financial Responsibility and
Management Assistance Act of 1995, approved April 17, 1995 (109 Stat. 116: D.C. Official
Code §47-392.03(a)). a 30-day period of Congressional review as
provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act,
approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813: D.C. Official Code §1-206.02(c)(1)). and publication in the District of Columbia Register.
