PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
To declare the existence of an emergency, with respect to legislation necessary to
bring the District of Columbia in compliance with federal child support requirements.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited
as the "Child Support and Welfare Reform Compliance Congressional Review Emergency
Declaration Resolution of 2001."
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia finds that:
(1) Bill 13-821, the Child Support and Welfare Reform Compliance Emergency Amendment
Act of 2000 will expire on February 5, 2001.
(2) Bill 13-254, the Child Support and Welfare Reform Compliance Amendment Act of 2000
and Bill 13-825, the Child Support and Welfare Reform Compliance Temporary Amendment Act
of 2000, are pending Congressional Review.
(3) Approval of the Child Support and Welfare Reform Compliance Congressional Review
Emergency Act of 2001 is necessary to prevent a gap in the legal authority.
Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia determines that the circumstances
enumerated in section 2 constitute emergency circumstances making it necessary that the
Child Support and Welfare Reform Compliance Congressional Review Emergency Amendment Act
of 2001 be adopted after a single reading.
Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
