IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

Councilmember Jack Evans introduced the follow ing bill. which was referred to the
Committee on ______________

To amend Paragraph 14 of the Schedule of Heights of Buildings Adjacent to Public
Buildings

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. That this act may be
cited as the "Schedule of Heights of Buildings Amendment Act of 1997".

Sec 2. Paragraph 14 of the Schedule of Heights of Buildings Adjacent to Public
Buildings, as adopted by the Commissioners of the District of Columbia. in conformity with
the Act of Congress of June 1, 1910, and the amendments of December 30, 1910, and May 20,
1912 (issued by the Zoning Commission of the District of Columbia in Appendix G of the
District of Columbia Zoning Regulation, effective May 12, 1958) is amended by adding the
following sentences at the end of the paragraph.

"This restriction shall not apply to any structure that is set back from the 14th
Street property line to a line that is continuous with the facade of the Bureau of
Engraving and Printing Annex building located along 14th Street. S.W., between C and D
Streets. S.W. The height of a structure described in the preceding sentence shall be
established in accordance with the requirements of the Zoning Regulations of the District
of Columbia, as amended.".

Sec. 3. This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of
veto by the Mayor, action by the Council of the District of Columbia to override the
veto), approval by the Financial Responsibility and Management Assistance Authority
as provided in section 203(a) of the District of Columbia Financial Responsibility and
Management Authority Act of 1995, approved April 17, 1995 (109 Stat. 116: D.C. Code
§ 47-392.3(c)). and a 60-day period of Congressional review as provided in section
602(c)(2) of the District of Columbia Self-Government and Governmental Reorganization Act.
approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Code §1-233(c)(2)). and publication in the
District of Columbia Register.
