Councilmember EvansA BILL IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA To amend DC Law 10-152, the Omnibus Sports Consolidation Act of 1994, to change the
name of the District of Columbia Sports Commission to more accurately reflect the scope of
its responsibilities. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this Act may be cited as
the "Omnibus Sports Consolidation Amendment Act of 1997." Sec. 2. Section 2 of the Omnibus Sports
Consolidation Act of 1994, effective August 23, 1994, DC Law 10-152, DC Code § 2-4001, 41
DCR 4636, is amended by striking the phase "Sports Commission" and substituting
the phrase "Sports and Entertainment Commission". Sec. 3. Section 4 of the Omnibus Sports
Consolidation Act of 1994, effective August 23, 1994, DC Law 10-152, DC Code § 2-4003, 41
DCR 4636, is amended by striking the phrase "District of Columbia Sports
Commission" and substituting the phrase "District of Columbia Sports and
Entertainment Commission". Sec. 4. All references to "Sports
Commission" contained in the Omnibus Sports Consolidation Act of 1994, effective
August 23, 1994, DC Law 10-152, DC Code § 2-4001 et seq., 41 DCR 4636, are amended by
striking the phrase "Sports Commission" and inserting the phrase "Sports
and Entertainment Commission". Sec. 5. This Act shall take effect
following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the Mayor, action by the
Council to override of the veto), approval by the Financial Responsibility and Management
Assistance Authority as provided in Sec. 203(a) of the District of Columbia Financial
Responsibility and Management Assistance Act of 1995, approved April 17, 1995 (109 Stat.
116; DC Code Sec. 47-392.3(a)), and a 30-day period of Congressional review as provided in
Sec. 602 (c)(1) of the District of Columbia Self-Government and Governmental
Reorganization Act, approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; DC Code Sec. 1233(c)(1)),
and publication in the District of Columbia Register. |
