Emergency Transitional Education Board of Trustees

The members of the Emergency Transitional Education Board of Trustees were
appointed by the District of Columbia Financial Responsibility and Management Assistance
Authority, with the exception of the President of the elected Board of Education, who is
an ex-officio member; a parent representative appointed by the Authority from three
Mayoral nominees; and a teacher representative appointed by the Authority from three City
Council nominees.

A decision by the DC Court of Appeals on January 6,
1998, and a damning audit for the Control Board led the DC Financial Responsibility and
Management Assistance Authority to say on January 12, 1998, that it would assume direct
responsibility for managing the schools.
